Autochthonous cases of dengue in Spain and France

Three autochthonous cases of dengue have been reported in France and Spain. The probability of further local sustained transmission remains very low, both in Spain and in France. Environmental conditions will become progressively less suitable for transmission over the autumn season.

Rapid risk assessment: Zika virus disease in Var department, France

On 1 October 2019, a case of locally acquired Zika virus (ZIKV) disease in France was laboratory confirmed. To date, and based on ECDC’s epidemiological assessment, the probability of ongoing vector-borne local transmission is considered very low.

Rapid risk assessment: Outbreak of carbapenemase-producing and colistin-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae, north-east Germany, 2019

As of 21 October 2019, 17 patients in three hospitals and one rehabilitation clinic in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania in north-east Germany have been affected.

Influenza virus characterisation, Summary Europe, September 2019

This is the tenth and final report for the 2018–19 influenza season. As of week 39/2019, 205 947 influenza detections across the WHO European Region had been reported; 99% type A viruses, with A(H1N1)pdm09 prevailing over A(H3N2), and 1.2% type B viruses, with 86 of 165 (52%) ascribed to a lineage being B/Yamagata.

Monthly measles and rubella monitoring report, October 2019

ECDC reports monthly on measles and rubella surveillance data submitted by 30 EU/EEA countries to the European Surveillance System (TESSy). This report is based on surveillance data reported to TESSy. ECDC also monitors European measles outbreaks through epidemic intelligence and publishes the most recent updates monthly in the Communicable Disease Threats Report (CDTR).

The ECDC communicable disease threats report is a weekly bulletin intended for epidemiologists and health professionals in the area of communicable disease prevention and control. Summarising information gathered by ECDC through its epidemic intelligence activities regarding communicable disease threats of concern to the European Union, it also provides updates on the global situation and changes in the epidemiology of communicable diseases with potential to affect Europe, including diseases that are the focus of eradication efforts.
