ECDC country visit to Luxembourg to discuss antimicrobial resistance issues

Following an official invitation by the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg, an ECDC team conducted visits and meetings to discuss AMR issues in the country with the overall objective of providing an evidence-based assessment of the situation in Luxembourg regarding prevention and control of AMR through prudent use of antibiotics and infection control. This country visit was conducted as a joint One Health AMR country visit together with a team from the European Commission’s Directorate General for Health and Food Safety.

HIV/AIDS surveillance in Europe 2017 – 2016 data

Although HIV is preventable through effective public health measures, significant HIV transmission continues in Europe. In 2016, 29 444 people were diagnosed with HIV in the 31 countries of the EU/EEA, with a rate of 5.9 per 100 000. The rate was higher among men than women (8.9 versus 2.6 cases per 100 000 population).

Surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in Europe 2017

The results presented in this report are based on antimicrobial resistance data from invasive isolates reported to EARS-Net by 30 European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries in 2017 (data referring to 2016), and on trend analyses of data reported by the participating countries for the period 2013 to 2016.

Monthly measles and rubella monitoring report, November 2017

ECDC publishes a monthly surveillance report on measles and rubella data submitted by the 30 EU/EEA countries. ECDC also monitors European and worldwide measles outbreaks through epidemic intelligence and reports on them on a monthly basis in the Communicable Disease Threat Reports (CDTR).

ECDC communicable disease threats report
Date of publication: every Friday

The ECDC communicable disease threats report is a weekly bulletin intended for epidemiologists and health professionals in the area of communicable disease prevention and control. Summarising information gathered by ECDC through its epidemic intelligence activities regarding communicable disease threats of concern to the European Union, it also provides updates on the global situation and changes in the epidemiology of communicable diseases with potential to affect Europe, including diseases that are the focus of eradication efforts.
